About

Down Syndrome Association of Brevard, Inc. (DSAB) is a non-profit organization that originated with the passion of people who love someone with Down syndrome. The organization received its 501c3 status in 2007 as Families Exploring Down Syndrome in Brevard, Inc. and has proudly hosted a Buddy Walk ® since 2002. As a small volunteer-based organization, the board members were originally comprised of local moms who were on the unexpected journey of Down syndrome led by some fantastic tour guides. This small board was able to reach many families and share their experiences, knowledge and most importantly welcome all the newest surprise tour guides

As the organization grew, we felt our name was keeping us hidden, so we officially changed our name in 2019 to the Down Syndrome Association of Brevard, Inc., in hopes of more easily connecting with our Brevard families, businesses, national organizations and growing our board of directors. Our board of directors share the same values and passions as our founders and we have welcomed business professionals, medical personnel, marketing executives and more others to help expand our presence and mission within Brevard County.

Through the resounding success of our annual Brevard Buddy Walk ®, we officially hired our first Executive Director in 2021. In 2022, we added our annual Down for Derby Gala and Auction to not only maintain but increase services to our DSAB family.

The core values, beliefs, and passion of those that came before us remain and will always be the heart of DSAB.
