Sue Fallon for the South Brevard Historical Society Meeting Saturday, March 11th, 2023 at 3 PM For more info email: history@andren.com Story of the Campbell Family of Melbourne, Florida presented by The South Brevard Historical Society at the Melbourne Public Library on Fee Avenue in Melbourne, FL On Saturday, March 11th at 3PM, Barbara Arthur and Ann Raley Flotte will be sharing the fascinating story of the Campbell family of Melbourne. The Campbell’s arrived in Melbourne in 1884 when the town boasted a population of 30 residents. Transportation was still by boat and Flagler’s railroad would not arrive for another 9 years. What was the lure that brought them to this tiny jungle-like community? The Campbell’s were entrepreneurs, innovators, civic leaders, citrus growers, merchants, civil servants, church leaders, and philanthropists who were involved in all aspects of early Melbourne. Come hear their story for the first time. Thankfully their legacy lives on through their connection to the amazing Rowlette family who we are proud to dedicate these memories to. Ann Raley is Secretary for Green Gables at Historic Riverview Village, Inc.
