At Gastropalooza VI, we welcome back local favorite Shane Burgman as emcee to guide your culinary journey and exciting Chef vs Chef showdowns! This year 28 North's Chef CJ Hughes willl face off against Food Network veteran NYC based Chef Melvin Boots Johnson in a three round battle judged by local celebrities and culinary experts. Chef Boots is a nationally recognized culinary competition veteran. From working under Bobby Flay in the early 2000s at Mesa Grill to beating him on “Beat Bobby Flay” in 2025, Chef Boots has made a name for himself on multiple national food competitions. Additional appearances include Chopped, Late Night Chef, Cutthroat Kitchen, and Man vs Child. In 2018, he was crowned Chopped Grill Master Champion. He has been featured in Forbes, NBC TODAY, Yahoo, PIX 11 NY, and more for his restaurant success, culinary tips and delicious cuisine
